East Africa. During the prelude, enjoy a glimpse of the beautiful land and people of

Tanzania.

CALL TO WORSHIP           "Distant Land"                             Adult Choir

WELCOME

    We're so glad you're here. If you're a visitor, relax. We won't ask you to stand up and introduce yourself or anything uncomfortable like that.

    If children are with you: That's wonderful! Jesus loves children and so do we. Feel free to sit near the front so they can see and hear everything. If you like, we keep quiet activities for them in bags near the sanctuary doors. We do provide a staffed nursery. To reach our nursery, turn left after leaving the sanctuary, turn left again when you reach the hallway. Turn right and the nursery is on your left.

    What we ask: Please fill out the Friendship Pad passed during the offering time in the service just so we know a little about who has come today.

   Fellowship: Join us today for a special Tanzanian meal and program in the Fellowship Hall following service. To get there, turn left after leaving the sanctuary; it's at the end of the long hallway.

    Assistance: Hearing Assistance Devices are available for your use; please ask an usher if you would like one.

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS

P:  Trusting in the word of life given in baptism, we are gathered in the name of the

   Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen.

P:    Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.

Silence is kept for reflection.

P:    Merciful God. C: We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and are not worthy to be called your children. Have mercy on us and turn us from our sinful ways. Bring us back to you as those who once were dead but now have life, through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

3 P:    The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Through the Holy Spirit, God gives life, freedom from the power of sin and resurrection from the dead. In the name of + Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven. Live in newness of life.      C: Amen.

(marching, dancing, praying, singing)

APOSTLES' CREED

1 believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come again to judge the

   living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

OFFERING    "Dear Lord We Break the Bread"                                       LoriLine

Please sign the friendship pad & pass it to your neighbor. Then return it to the center aisle.

It is tradition in Hedaru to process toward the altar for offerings. People bring their offerings forward in an envelope or in a closed fist. If people are unable to give to the offering, they come forward anyway, put an empty fist in the basket, and join in the celebration of the giving. In that tradition we invite all who are able to come forward during the offering, and join in the celebration, whether you are giving today or not. You may place your usual offering in the first box, or an offering for our Tanzania projects in the second box.

The pictures showing during the offering are pictures of projects we have helped with in the past: success stories of our Companionship.
