Our Family and Youth Ministry has something for everyone!

Upcoming Family and Youth Events
 
Church on Wednesdays will be starting up on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011
There are changes this year so please read carefully
 
 
The classes will go from 6:00 - 7:00 pm unless otherwise stated.  Snacks will be served during that time.  No meal will be served this year. 
 
Elementary Youth -  Pre-Kdgn-2nd grade, Power Pack (3rd grade-5th grade).Class time is 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
 
Jr. High Youth - Confirmation will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:00 pm for 6th - 8th graders.
 
Senior High Youth - The first and third Wednesdays will consist of large youth group (aka 807) and the second and fourth Wednesdays are small groups.  This will run from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.
 
Adult Choir -  Always open for new members, goes from 7:00 - 8:00 pm as well.

Every other month our Faith Family gathers together for a special intergenerational event that focuses on building relationships. Young and young at heart and every age in between are invited to join us for fun, fellowship, and food! We hope you will join us! Past activities have included game nights, movie nights, Halloween Party, the Variety Show, taking a ride on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, Christmas caroling, going to an ICubs baseball game, and more!

 
High School Youth Group
Join us for High School Youth Group and Small Groups! 807_09.jpg

During the summer, the High School Youth group meets as arranged, usually about twice per month.

807 (large group youth group) meets during the school year the first and third Wednesday of every month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. Small group discussion groups meet the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month, during the school year, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at their designated locations. If you would like to participate in a small group, please contact the church office at 292-2131 to get signed-up! All are welcome to join us for 807! Please come and bring a friend!

For just our 9th graders who are in their final year of Confirmation, they meet at the church 4-5 times during the year for large group mentor activities. The also meet one-on-one with their mentor throughout the year. Contact Pastor Beth if you have any questions at 292-2131.

 
Power Pack - 3rd - 5th Grade Youth Group

 

 Power Pack

Power Pack is our 3rd-5th grade ministry focused on helping children grow in their relationship with God and others. All 3rd-5th graders and their friends are invited to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm. The children will be offered snacks during the hour.  No meal will be offered as in the past.  We hope you will consider joining us for some fun Bible activities, awesome games, cool crafts, and more!

St. Andrew's Puppets and Drama
St. Andrew's Puppets and Drama offer a unique way to participate in ministry, using puppet shows to spread the gospel. The puppeteers design sets, props, and lighting, and put together stunning shows with fun background music, to the delight of those in attendance, young and old.  We are always looks for more hands or if you just want to check it out and see what it is all about, please contact Kris Parsons thru the church office at 292-2131.

 

 

 

 
Adult Small Groups

There are several small group opportunities for adults.  If you are interested in joining one, please contact the church office @ 292-2131.

Adult Forum - Sunday mornings @ 9:00 am.  A variety of topics are discussed every Sunday.

Adult Small Groups - Every Wednesday starting @ 6:30 pm

Men's Fellowship - Men's fellowship on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 8:00 am.  Open to all men and guests of the church.  Meets in the kitchen at the church.

Women's Circle - Bible study for women that meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 9:30 am.  Meets at the church.

Adult Choir - Meets every Wednesday at 7:15 pm. The adult choir is under the direction of Steve Hoifeldt.

St. A's Sewing Group - Open to all women of SALC.  Meets one afternoon on the third Tuesday of every month.  They choose different projects to work on like making school kits for Lutheran World Relief is just one example. You can contact Pat Frette thru the church office at 292-2131.

 Tanzania Ministry - Meets the second Tuesday of every month @ 7:00 to discuss different projects they may have going for our sister congregaton in Hedaru.You may contact Carol Putz, Chair, thru the church office at 292-2131.

60+ - For those adults over the age of 60 that meet at West Ames Hy-Vee the second Tuesday of every month for food and fellowship @ 9:30 am.

Men's Bible Study - Meets every Thursday @ 7:00 am at Frederiksen Court for fellowship & study.  

 Edwards School Task Force - Do a variety of tasks for the teachers/school.  Supply treats for the classroom, collect mittens, etc.  Contact Mary Johnson thru the church office @ 292-2131.

Military Family Support Ministry -  Collected items for the troops throughout the year and mailed over their.  Contact Kris Parsons at 292-2131.
