Ardis Sansgaard's Faith Story

Are You Ready to Tell the Story?

In 1949, I met the man and woman who would one day become my mother and father-in-law. They were so beautiful and I was aware from the beginning that here were two people who were truly Christians in every respect. They lived Christ in their daily lives and certainly showed their love for HIM on Sunday, hardly ever missing a Sunday of worship. They did not flaunt their Christianity in any way.

I married their son on August 19, 1951. Robert and I were married for 33 years when cancer took his life in 1983. He was the father of my 5 daughters.

My story is about his father, BJ Fevold, who lived in Humboldt, Iowa. BJ was a farmer and in his later years owned an 8-horse Belgium hitch which he showed all over the state of Iowa for pleasure and competition.

One day BJ got a phone call from someone in Humboldt. He was asked to come to the Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa to see a man who was a patient there.

BJ hardly knew the man but went to the hospital. When he arrived, the man was lying in his bed and they chatted for awhile, then the man said to BJ, “I suppose you are wondering why you have been summoned to come here to see me?” “Yes,” BJ said, “I have been wondering somewhat.” The man said, “I want you to tell me about this man, Jesus Christ.” BJ told him the story as he knew it. When he finished, the man lay there with tears streaming down his cheeks and said, “That is the most beautiful story I have ever heard.”

That is about all of the story I know. Just goes to show we need to be ready to tell our story of Christ as we know him. He lives in us and we live in Him.What a friend we have in Jesus.

Your friend in Christ,

Ardis Sansgaard
