Isn't it interesting to note the strong resemblance these 4 plagues bear to the first four trumpet calls?

These plagues are based on the plagues of Egypt (Exod 9:l0ff; 7:l7ff). These plagues are an attack on the same four elements of the physical world men. (earth, ocean, rivers and springs, sky)

There is an interesting difference.

The Church saw the trumpet calls as the plagues preceding the Exodus and marking their deliverance from the New Egypt

The world sees the first 4 plagues as the plagues preceding and marking the punishment of Egypt for its arrogant rebellion against God.
